The 500-seat Glenn Massay Theater, located on the University of Alaska's Mat-Su College campus, opened on February 7th, 2015.
We are able to host a variety of events including plays, musicals, lectures, conferences, concerts, competitions, festivals, benefits, recitals, movie screenings, receptions, and more. The mission of the theater is to provide a state-of-the-art facility for the MSC campus and the Mat-Su Valley community to present their ideas and creative endeavors to the public. It is a venue of education and entertainment that can help to strengthen, engage, and empower the community.
The facility includes a beautiful lobby with a ticket-concession booth, coat storage, large bathrooms, and the staff offices. Backstage we have a scene shop and costume shop for creating incredible productions as well as providing for the needs of conferences and events. There are two large dressing rooms as well as a private dressing room and the green room for relaxing while you’re not on stage. We have a wide variety of audio gear and a full ETC LED lighting system.
If you need to sell reserved or general seating tickets for your event, we can handle this for you. We will even help sell the tickets during the week in our box office.
We can post information and graphics for your event on our website and social media pages. If you want to boost your event, we can also do this based on the budget you set up.
We have 20 folding tables and 75 folding chairs for your event needs. These can be made available for a nominal fee depending on your needs.
We have the Meyer Sound Constellation Acoustic System to make your event sound amazing! We also have 75 music stands and posture chairs available, along with keyboards and drum kits if needed.
Our stage is a 40' x 40' onstage footprint with extra space on the apron. We have ample backstage space as well as an orchestra pit, scene shop, costume shop, a green room, and large dressing rooms. Plus, we have a full single-purchase counterweight fly system with 41 line sets for all of your rigging needs.
We have the Yamaha CL5 sound board controlling the Meyer Sound Lina arrays, along with a variety of microphones for both vocal and instrument needs. To see it all, we have a full LED ETC Lighting system with ETC Eos lighting control. Our projector is a 21k lumen Panasonic 4K laser system with a 17' x 31' screen.
Times outside of those hours are possible with permission from the Managing Director. Hourly rates are not available, rental is per day only. The daily fee includes access to a podium and two microphones, the projector and screen, and a basic light wash.

One technician is required; a second is based on need. The need for a second technician will be determined by the Managing Director, based on your event needs. This applies to all hours that your event is in the building.
These are available on an as needed basis and with the permission of the Managing Director.
If you need a more complicated lighting setup, we can design what you need and also run the light board for you. This will usually add a second technician to the above technician fee.
If you need a more complicated audio setup, we can setup what you need and also run the sound board for you. This will usually add a second technician to the above technician fee.
If you need a set built for your show, we can setup a consultation and figure out the best needs for your event.
All prices and services are subject to change. The theater is closed on all university approved holidays and campus closures. The University of Alaska requires all renters to show proof of event insurance. If you are interested in renting the theater, please use our contact form on the home page.
